Competition

League competition

Our six teams play in the Flemish Liga or in the provincial mixed, men's and ladies' league competition of the Association of Flemish Brabant Badminton Clubs (VVBBC).

Both seasons run alongside one another now, men's/ladies' and mixed run from September to April

For the results of the current season, please consult the Interclub Teams pages via the menu.

Tournaments

Regular formal (competitive) and informal (recreational or veterans') tournaments are held throughout the badminton year.

New 2020 Classifications System

Each player has a league classification reflecting their strength. Classifications range from 12 (lowest) to 1 (highest, international standard).

There are two ways to gain "promotion" into a higher classification: either by doing well in tournaments or by winning enough matches in the league matches.

Rankings are revised six times a year (Every two months). Your ranking depends on the number of points you have in each discipline. The thresholds for PROMOTION and DEMOTION for the respective classifications are:

  • 1 : 2162 and -
  • 2 : 1442 and 1297
  • 3 : 961 and 865
  • 4 : 641 and 557
  • 5 : 427 and 384
  • 6 : 285 and 256
  • 7 : 190 and 171
  • 8 : 127 and 114
  • 9 : 84 and 76
  • 10 : 56 and 51
  • 11 : 38 and 34
  • 12 : - and 23

You get a fixed number of points for every match you play in the league competition and in tournaments. Ranking depends on the average of points for wins over 52 weeks. If you lose you get 0 points, but if you win against an opponent ranked one classification higher you get more points than if you beat an opponent of the same classification. The exact number of points depends on the league division you play in and, in the case of tournaments, on the number of opponents and the overall ranking (top, standard or basic) of the tournament. And of course on how far you get in the tournament.
