With members from almost 20 countries, we are probably the most international badminton club in the Flemish league. We have five teams in the mixed and level league competitions and regularly send large delegations to play in tournaments. On top of that, we have many keen casual players and an active and varied social life.

BIBC Corona Protocol

We are restarting our badminton sessions September 2nd. Please respect these following Corona Protocol recommendations to the letter. The sooner we limit the spread of the virus, the sooner we can get back to normality. I am charged with the job of being the ‘Corona Coordinator’ and I will keep an eye out for any breaking of these rules. Study this list, and make sure to book yourself into each session via our Doodle. The Doodle link will be sent in the next newsletter. A small correction to my previous newsletter: If you join the club in January it is 90€ for the remainder of the season, not 70€, my mistake. And the interclub season will start in September. I had posted erroneously on our Facebook group that it was postponed until October. This was due to misinformation from Badminton Vlaanderen who hadn’t got their message straight. Also, if you were signed up for the Volker training last season, I ask you to confirm with me by email your restart with Volker for 10 sessions on September 30th.

  1. If you are feeling unwell, better not to come to training!
  2. Fill in the Doodle beforehand to reserve a session, yes, even for free play.
  3. The number of people in the hall at any one time is limited to 50, but this shouldn’t be a problem.
  4. Wear a mask at all times within the sport hall corridors when not playing badminton.
  5. Upon arrival at the hall, add your name to our session player sheet and add a phone number, try to bring your own pen to do this. If you do not do this, you can be denied entry to the session. We are obligated to keep this list for 14 days.
  6. Wash hands before and after playing, and use hand sanitizer when possible.
  7. The sports hall should provide hand sanitizer.
  8. Try to limit the number of people you play doubles with. The ‘bubble’ has been restricted to 5 people you can have close contact with per week, outside your household. In sport, this number can be 10 ‘close contact’ players.
  9. When playing, try not to touch the net if possible. That is the job of the person who sets up and takes down the nets.
  10. Try to play without changing end after a set.
  11. Off the court, try to keep the 1m50 distance.
  12. Start gently if you have not done physical activity for some time.
  13. Try to arrive no more than 10 minutes before the start time, and leave promptly.
  14. Juniors under the age of 12 do not have to wear a mask.
  15. Greetings like elbows and fist bumps are not recommended, try waving.
  16. Changing rooms will likely be closed, be prepared for this.
  17. Try to put your sports bag away from those of other players. Put it near the court you are playing on to limit your movements around the hall.
  18. Try not to touch your face, and if you feel the urge to cough, always cough into your elbow.
  19. Touch rackets but do not high-five when playing.
